What  a week it has been! Well I suppose last week! I’m so glad it is a new week, and a fresh start. Last week flew by, and I didn’t hit my mileage that I had hoped for – I felt like I sandbagged my workouts. I’m admitting this to you, so this week, I can hit my goals, kill my workouts, and make improvements… but first I have to go to the grocery store. I need the right fuel to do all of this!

Saturday I had the wonderful privilege to attend the Richmond Endurance Symposium and Expo that was in Richmond, VA. WOW! I have seen the light, the motivation, and am ready! There were many amazing people that spoke at this event, along with attending. First off I heard from Any Potts, Professional Triathlete and world renowned fanatical attitude athlete! Andy recounted a story on the field with Craig Alexander when they were on the bike during a race- what a highlight to see into a day in the life of a professional athlete battling against himself, the elements and his competition. Another favorite story from Andy has to be his complete, endearing , fanatical attitude about being positive! It was amazing to hear him talk with such a grin, and happiness. Can you just come to the 757 and do some trail runs in the State Park, since you don’t ride outside!? Please! This area could use some more positive people like you!

Next up was Bob Seebohar, MS, RD, CCSD, CSCS, from Fuel4mance, who spoke on Nutrition Periodization. I may not have never heard of Bob Seebohar, but now he’s a man who I want to know more about, and want to get his books!  This was a great concept, which I believe that a lot of us fall victim to keeping our eating the same while our exercise levels change through the year.

Hunter Allen from Peaks Coaching spoke about using power meters and other test to measure performance. This was pretty enlightening as well, although I wish I could relate to it more. The only awesome technology that I have to use and measure my performance is my Garmin 910. No heart rate monitor, no power meter… no anything else 😦 One day I will get these,  I hope. 😦

And last but not least, Christain Vande Velde was there for a question and answer session. He was a pro cyclist for most recent Team Garmin-Sharp! He seems to be enjoying retirement, and the family life for sure! He had some wonderful stories as well! We hopefully will see him at Richmond 2015 Championships, in some capacity!

This was the second Endurance Symposium held in Richmond. I can’t believe that I missed the first one!! I would love to go next year, so I am hoping that they keep this going strong!

Nonetheless, my goals for this week is to get about 20 miles running in, get two swim workouts, and some time on my trainer in! Also to eat more vegan-like because I feel so much better when I do!

Get out there and get some base miles in everyone!
